Flying runs in the family!






Great to see the Mexted family- Denis, Kathy, Harrison, Amelia and Kate. Harrison enjoyed his first flight in a glider today with Eddie. Denis and his brother Michael were tow pilots at Sportavia.

After a top temp. of 31.9 degrees yesterday the mercury reached a pleasant 22 today. Grant enjoyed local soaring in blue conditions while Warwick and Judy toured in the J160.

Tiger Moth pilot soars high

Tiger Moth pilot Charles, from Melbourne enjoyed flying with Eddie in the Blanik today. Although the winds were quite blustery they climbed to 7000 feet in strong lift.

Tom, staying in Tocumwal with his family for a few days holiday managed to find time for some flying in the SportStar with Eddie. Beautiful day here with top temp of 27.4.

School holiday fun!

With the school holidays just beginning we have had many young visitors admiring the gliders. Jeremy and Sandy from Melbourne were in awe of the Jet Caproni while Geoff's grandchildren Adam and Mia are keen to become pilots just like Poppy.

Dust storm then beautiful soaking rain
















Great to see Greg and family who dropped in for a chat prior to heading off for the school holidays. Ed continued with the Form 2 work on the Blanik oblivous to the dust storm outside. At present we are enjoying much needed soaking rain.

All hands on deck

Don had a busy day in the J160 flying with Julian and Jan. Bob's all ready for the season ahead after completing his check flight with Eddie in IUH. Great to see Graham who flew in for a cuppa on his way to Echuca. After spending the afternoon soaring Grant had plenty of helpers (Tim, Rolfe, Eddie and Ralph) when it came time to put his glider to bed!

Tim looking forward to a great season!


Tim, recently back from holidaying overseas called in today to take Ralph flying in the Maule. Tim can hardly wait for his next holiday which will be in Tocumwal of course - gliding and no doubt showing off his skills on the BBQ. Last season Tim's culinary expertise was only surpassed by his flying skills!

Summer is on the way!

A warm day with the mercury reaching 29 degrees. Yes Summer is definitely on the way. Mark's new Savannah drew admiring glances from Phil and Greg while Eddie couldn't resist taking it for a fly. Don went flying with Glyn in the J160. Ralph settled passenger Cameron into the IS28B2. Cameron had a fantastic flight and will be back for more!!

Great to see Ralph who enjoyed a few flights this afternoon in IUH with Eddie towing in the Maule. Ian also flew in for a cuppa in his home built Falco. Tom continued honing his skills in the SportStar.

Dave spent a pleasant day in blue conditions with three long flights. He is now heading up to the Northern Territory for a month or so. Tom a glider pilot is converting to ultralights. He didn't want to come down as the conditions were perfect.

Ingo advises Bernie

Great to see Bernie who took advantage of the unstable Southerly airstream today. He flew with strong climbs of 3.5 -4.5 mps with cloud base at 5,800 feet.

A big welcome to Grant who had his first flying lesson today with Eddie in the Sportstar. Jan continued instruction with Don in the J160. Later on Kel also had her first lesson - in mowing!

Happy Birthday Eddie!

Eddie, celebrating his birthday today reports that all is going well in Benalla. Ed is attending the Basic Airworthiness course held there and says that it is excellent. Night times have been a bit chilly in the caravan though - missing his electric blanket or possibly his wife no doubt!!

Great memories


The Condor is now loaded and ready for departure to Japan. What great memories we have of that wonderful day when Ingo soared above Tocumwal on the Condor's first flight after restoration by Mike and the team of gliding enthusiasts.

The Savannah is complete!!



Mark, proud owner of the recently completed (and long awaited!!) home built Savannah flew in to say hello. What an achievement!! Just love the colour. Mate Greg, along with son Russell also flew in to celebrate Marks' achievement.






Sunday continued to be an eventful day with Don and Jan keeping the J160 busy.





Dave enjoyed soaring in his LS4 even though it was a bit rough at times. At present he is finishing the day with a flight in the SportStar.



Great to see Johannes, Jutta and grand-daughter Nadine this morning.

It was a glorious day with the temp. reaching 20 degrees. Don headed off to Deni early for a full day of instruction in the J160.



The younger generation (Kel & Jaz) however were content to stay indoors honing their Kareoke skills.

Spring

Geoff called in the other day in his home built Jab to say a quick hello.




Hishashi and his young son Shochan have enjoyed flying in the SportStar recently.

Tony and his mates flew into Tocumwal in the Saratoga for an overnight stay on their way to the Birdsville races. Ed would have loved to have gone with them however he is attending a week long airworthiness course in Benalla starting tomorrow. Membership of SportAviation - due on 31st August. A warm welcome to all new members and thankyou for the continued support of existing members.
